Production and the individual components
All ballpoint pens consist of a combination of complex individual parts that are manufactured entirely in-house.
Craftsmanship meets high-tech
Due to the affinity with metal, as many parts as possible are made from it. Design and production take place in our own factory. The vertical range of manufacture is very high. Only the raw material, the nibs and the refills are bought in. Refills and nibs also come from German or Black Forest production.
The raw parts are mainly produced on a CNC automatic lathe. A CNC machining center is also available for milling work.
The mechanics
There are two unusual variants to choose from. A classic and proven bayonet mechanism. An exclusive and sophisticated wheel mechanism. Both types are maintenance-free, robust and durable.
Bayonet
The bayonet mechanism conveys a secure and high-quality feel. The firm click and secure hold have proven themselves over many years.
Wheel
The endlessly rotating wheel in combination with the optimum click when engaging make this mechanism something very special.
With clip or without
The clip is made from either stainless spring steel or bronze.
Clip
The stainless steel clip is virtually indestructible, while the bronze clip is less resilient but still very suitable for the intended use.
Clip screws
The clip screws have a special milling in the shape of a fir tree. They can only be opened with a special screwdriver. Of course, this is not needed to change the refill.
The packaging
The choice is yours. Wood in different variations or simply cardboard.

The branding
Apart from the refills and nibs, everything is manufactured completely in-house. With our own branding, of course. Including screws and packaging.
Screws
The screws for attaching the clips are adorned with a fir tree.
Branding
The wooden boxes we produce are always branded with the Black Forest Pen logo.
Crown
The wheel and bayonet mechanism are attached with a specially made crown decorated with fir trees.
With attention to detail
At the end of the manufacturing process, the individual parts are carefully assembled to create a high-quality and durable writing instrument. A functional and writing test round off the final act of production.
The finishing touches
Once the raw parts have been produced on the CNC machines, the workpieces are not yet ready for installation. Further - mainly manual - work steps follow.
The parts are deburred, vibratory ground, glass bead blasted and polished according to their use. The workpieces are cleaned after almost every work step. All these production steps are carried out with great care and require experience and precise work.
A special feature is the design with ceramic colors in the previously milled applications. These are high-quality colors from the jewelry and medical sector.
